The International Academy of Advanced Conducting after Ilia Musin

 

 

West Virginia State University (Institute) January 16 - 19, 2019

 

The International Academy of Advanced Conducting after Ilia Musin announce a unique opportunity for conductors of all professional levels and any age to experience intensive study of advanced orchestral conducting styles with an internationally recognized faculty. Participants will have ample daily podium time with string ensemble, and workshop Orchestra.

 


Internationally recognized faculty include: Dr. Leonid Korchmar (professor of St. Petersburg Conservatory of music, conductor of Mariinski Theatre, RF), Dr. Oleg Proskurnya (director of IAAC, professor of UAA) and Dr. Scott Woodard (professor of WVSU and director of orchestra).

All podium sessions will be videotaped, and all participants will receive individual coaching on the works they will conduct. Public performances will be held at the end of workshop. Interested individuals should send a completed application, $75 (nonrefundable) application fee, short resume (or bio) and videotape, if available.

Tuition - $950 Applications dead-line is January 4, 2019. Upon notification of acceptance, a $350 deposit must be submitted with the balance due by January 8. 2019. No refunds will be made after January 10, 2019. Housing and meals are included for January 16 - 19 only (meals will begin with diner on January 16 and conclude with breakfast on January 19). There will be an additional charge for early arrivals and late departures. The limited numbers of partial and full scholarships are available for participants on first-come-first-serve basis.

 

The goal of the International Academy of Advanced Conducting is to  promote and expand the legacy and methodology of Professor Ilia Musin. A discounted copy of Musin's " The Technique of Orchestral Conducting" will be available for participants.

 


 

For participants from the USA, the Academy provides assistance with visa and travel advice. Participants should bring their own scores for selected repertoire.
